FIVE more point-to-point (P2P) bus routes will be opened soon, the transportation department said in an advisory on Saturday.
One, in particular, will be launched this week.
On Tuesday commuters coming from Fairview in Quezon City may start boarding premium non-stop buses to Makati City.
Four other routes—Alabang to Ortigas, Fairview to Ortigas, Fairview to Cubao, Alabang to BGC, and Alabang to Cubao—will also operate soon.
Currently, there are four existing operational routes: Ortigas to Makati, North Edsa to Ortigas, Ortigas to Makati, and North Edsa to Makati.
This is a project to modernize the Public Utility System.
“The five new routes were launched for passengers to have a more convenient, reliable and safe transportation. It allows shorter travel time,” the advisory read.
It also features “technology-enabled and persons with disability [PWD]-friendly design.”
Premium buses are fully air-conditioned, with a maximum of four seats per row.
The previous administration started the project, which aimed to provide an alternative to regular buses and train systems.
The P2P system allows shorter travel time, as buses depart on a fixed schedule and travel directly from the terminal to the drop-off point.
