SECURING the channel business in the Philippines for Minnesota-based Stratasys Ltd., Wordtext Systems Inc. (WSI) prompted the latter to focus on five industries.
“Aside from manufacturing, we see a potential in the dental, medical, education, architecture and interior design industry,” Alex Ulanday, business development manager at WSI, said in a statement as saying.
Ulanday said the company is launching in the first quarter Stratasys’s three-dimensional printers with the five industries as targets.
The Stratasys portfolio includes both Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and PolyJet technologies as well as additive manufacturing materials, including clear, rubber-like, bio-compatible photopolymers and tough high-performance FDM thermoplastics. The company has recently launched a 3D printer for medium-sized dental laboratories and medium-to-large orthodontic laboratories.
Aside from the dental industry, Stratasys is also active in aerospace, automotive, consumer, defense, education, industrial and medical industries, offering 3D printing applications, such as concept modeling, functional prototyping, industrial molding, and digital manufacturing solutions to engineers, designers and manufacturers.
Ulanday said sees WSI moving into the manufacturing sector once the Association of Southeast Asian Nations economic integration comes to fruition.
“I believe the Philippines is ready for that, especially that the country’s manufacturing industry is moving to a brighter path. There are a lot of investments coming in from increasing manufacturing load of the existing companies and from new companies that are setting up [here].”
Ulanday said the company has also received a number of inquiries on AutoCAD (computer aided design) machines.
“3D printing and 3D CAD software complement each other. Channeling both products will definitely benefit WSI [and its resellers].”
Ulanday said the company has invested to expand and retrofit WSI’s showroom so that the resellers can bring potential customers to see the actual machines.
“In effect, our resellers can also grow their product portfolio from selling software, computer and printer to the next big thing in IT hardware, which is 3D printing.”
Two of WSI’s resellers are CIM Technologies Inc. and Computrends Systems Technology Inc.
