AN advertisement has told us we have come a long way.
While that tagline lured many of use women to destroy our lungs while giving our hard-earned money to tobacco companies, it captured our journey to whoever we are today.
And today we are young, a stage we could only reach just one time. Being a millennial, an amalgamation of values and culture specific to us, perks up this youth.
Here are other things why we love being millennial women:
- We won’t take no for an answer. In this modern day and age, it seems that the norms have shifted from the old school’s ideal of women as only tied to meet domestic demands and household needs into women actively engaged in the work force. And it’s not because we don’t have a choice: most of us love their jobs, like to do what they do and do it best.
- We are making more social impact by the day. Social media has been a great gateway for us millennial women in expressing ourselves and helping others, as well.
- We get things done. Many of us millennial women have risen up with initiatives to do the impossible because we believe there is no such thing as impossible.
- We are feminists without giving up our femininity. Many of us now understand that to be a strong woman, one does not have to give up her feminine side. To compete with the world, there is no need to out-man the men. We just have to out-smart them, heh.
- Who wears the pants? It is no longer a question today. We can both decide to wear the pants and no one’s gonna judge you.
- We are goal-setters. Most of millennial women today are focused on their career. Some even have bucket lists and that’s a good sign.
- We are more empowered today and are working for greater women empowerment. Now that women are being widely accepted into the work force, some have also started their climb to the top of the ladder. There are women CEOs, female politicians, stock market players, investors and high-ranking business executives who have set some very good examples for us millennials.
- We make our own opportunities. Many of the millenials have been earning on their own by putting up online businesses, investing in the stock markets, in part-time jobs and saving. By doing this, millennial women have the advantage of being financially independent.
- We make our own fashion fads. Sure there are trends a lot of us follow but nobody really minds when we mix and match to our own style.
- We have access to everything. The Internet has been good for us, providing us with the ability to reach so many domains to collect data. Our span of knowledge is not longer confined only within the four corners of classrooms. Our sources are no longer only men or content written by men.
In this age of the smartphone, anything is possible for us millennial women. That makes us love who we are.
