JAPANESE electronic commerce and Internet company Rakuten Inc. has tweaked its free, cross-platform instant messaging and voice over IP (VoIP) application. The company said in a statement its “delete” feature offers users a second chance to redeem their reputation put at risk because of a wrong send.
“This unique feature is loved by many Viber users because it allows them to correct their mistakes easily,” the company said.
The company that bought Viber Media Inc. in 2014 explained Viber’s delete feature works on both one-on-one and group messages. “However, if you want to delete a message that someone else has sent to you, it will only be removed from your own device,” Rakuten said.
The Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan-headquartered firm added that Viber’s delete feature gives users more control.
