TRAVELLERS International Hotel Group signed a deal with Japanese firm Okura Hotels and Resorts group for the establishment of a branch in Bayshore City Resorts World, Andrew Tan’s billion-dollar integrated resort and casino in Entertainment City.
Travellers, which owns 95 percent of Bayshore City, said in a statement that Okura Hotel Manila will be the third branch of the Japanese hotel chain in Asia outside of Japan after it opened in Macau in 2011 and Bangkok in 2012.
“The planned construction site for Okura will cover approximately 38,000 square meters at the Bayshore City Resorts World and will offer approximately 380 guest rooms,” the company said. Officials earlier said that Bayshore City will have at least 1,500 hotel rooms to be managed and operated by international hotel brands. These include The Westin Hotel Manila Bayshore of Starwood Asia Pacific Hotels and Resorts group, the Hotel Okura Manila and Crockfords Tower of the Genting group.
The initial phase includes three hotels with a combined number of at least 800 rooms, casino and window shops and a 3,000-seater theater. The company said it already commenced site development, while actual construction will start within the year. The integrated resort is projected to open in the fourth quarter of 2018.
The company originally planned to start construction by 2012 and to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2016.
