Trans-Asia Renewable Energy Corp. (Tarec) is keen on building another wind farm project in Guimaras with a capacity of 40 megawatts (MW), according to Trans-Asia Oil and Energy Development Corp. President Francisco Viray.
”Now, the 40 megawatts will probably be mostly all in Sibunag, there’s no area in Valencia already,” Viray told reporters.
The upcoming second wind farm is part of the 100- MW initial plan of Tarec in the island.
Viray noted TAREC is still studying whether to have a project in Nueva Valencia.
The former Energy secretary said TAREC could start processing the requirements for the wind farm, once the DOE announces the increased target capacity for wind, which is currently at 200 MW.
