AROUND 8,000 jobs will be available to the domestic labor market once the biggest integrated casino and resort facilities will open next year in the sprawling Entertainment City of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) along the reclaimed bay area in Parañaque City.
Banking on the competency and warm hospitality of Filipinos, Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment Inc. will be hiring local talents to fill up casino and hotel-related jobs for its 44-hectare gaming and leisure facilities, which is expected to be completed by end of 2016.
“We are grateful to be part of the country’s road to economic growth as we plan on helping out by producing over 8,000 jobs to Filipinos once the project is complete and operational,” said Kenji Sugiyama, president of Tiger Resort.
“Also, we are committed to not just build a successful business [here], but to make it a global leader and share the good fortune that will come from the success of Filipino people,” he said.
The member of Japan-based casino resorts developer and operator Universal Entertainment Corp. announced on Thursday the completion of its first hotel topping-off, signifying the fulfillment of Tiger Resort’s investment commitment to the country by developing the $2-billion casino and resort complex.
This structure forms part of the two 15-story hotels of the first phase of the Manila Bay Resorts project, which promises to be impressive with world-class design and amazing view of the city and its famed sunset.
Connected by a sky bridge, both towers will have 500 rooms each, plus the iconic dancing water fountain and light display within the property that will rival that of Dubai
At the sideline interview during the topping-off rites, Tiger Resort Executive Vice President for Casino Operations and Marketing Matt Hurst told the BusinessMirror that the first phase of the project is the biggest, comprising around 25 hectares, with approximately 25 food and beverage (F&B) outlets, 47 retail outlets at around 75,000 square meters, a spa, night and beach clubs—all under the iconic golden dome.
The casino component of the facility, he added, will have around 500 table games and 3,000 slot machines.
“For Phase 2, we’re aiming [to build that] approximately a year after Phase 1. But a lot of things can change. We’re really focusing on Phase 1 right now,” he said.
“We have something like 12,000 applications for jobs already, and we barely even advertised. So the people of the Philippines have been incredibly receptive and want to join our organization. We will watch the market and see what we can learn. And from there, we may adopt, we may refine, [or] we may enhance [the property] just to make the offerings even better,” he added.
Elated by the continuous developments currently happening within the gaming complex that is seen to rival Las Vegas, Macau and other Asian gaming destinations, Parañaque City Mayor Edwin Olivarez lauded Tiger Resort, as well as other players in the Entertainment City, for their investment not only in the country, but particularly in the locality.
“This is especially heartening and a most welcome development for us here in Parañaque, because with the project’s vision under your Manila Bay Resorts we will have more employment opportunities for our constituents. When the Manila Bay Resorts hotels are in full operations, which I understand, by end of 2016 or by the first quarter of 2017, this will serve as an anchor and catalyst for the development and progress, meaning additional revenue for our city,” he said.
“Rest assured that under our administration, these revenues will be put to good and effective use to make Parañaque truly a modern city by the bay, able to provide efficient, honest and competent service to its residents, its business partners and its industries,” he added.
During the occasion, Universal Entertainment Corp. Chairman Kazuo Okada bared that they have passed a board resolution to approve the execution of a placement agency agreement with Deutsche Securities Inc. (part of the Deutsche Bank Group) as regards the privately placed notes.
