AFTER a recently concluded preview and media-drive event in Batangas, Suzuki Philippines officially launched the much-awaited Ciaz sedan, which is now a part of the manufacturer’s growing lineup of compact vehicles.
Packed with innovations, the Ciaz offers a next-level driving experience to Filipino motorists. “We, at Suzuki Philippines, are confident that the Filipinos will love the Ciaz as much as most of you [motoring media] loved it during the recent media ride and drive.
We, are certain that this will set a new standard for its kind and we look forward to share more of the Suzuki way of life with all of our Filipino customers through this latest offering,” Managing Director Norminio Mojica said.
Evident in the exterior design is Suzuki’s signature aesthetics, such as the sharp-edged contours on the hood that complement the keen-looking headlights fitted with projector type lamps.
There are also delineations in the front bumper with a pronounced grille bearing the company emblem and sword-shaped chins. The character lines on the flanks link to the large taillights that overlap with the attractive rear end. There are also stylishly subtle chrome linings just above the waistline.
Exclusive to the top-spec GLX are the 16” multispoked alloy wheels with 195/55R series tires, while the GL variant is supplied with smaller 15” alloy wheels and 185/65R rubbers.
The roomy interior boasts of a modern layout and a new dimension of sportiness, as well as elegance. Given the longer 2,650mm wheelbase create expansive leg room in the front and rear.
The equally spacious trunk, which opens via an electromagnetic latch, has 495 liters of luggage capacity. The GLX seats are not only leather-wrapped, but also elegantly shaped with ergonomic contours for a snug seating position. Two well-illuminated analog gauges with information screen in the middle are perfectly visible through the steering wheel which has integrated controls (available only in the GLX edition).
Aside from the usual bluetooth and USB access with navigation system, android-based phone users will definitely appreciate the top variant’s touch-operated audio head unit equipped with the same program interface. With the available wireless connectivity, drivers can utilize the infotainment system to access popular android applications including social media, e-mail and particularly every driver’s go-to app, Waze. Other elements exclusive to the GLX version are the six audio speakers, keyless push start/stop ignition and retractable power side mirrors, among others.
This subcompact sedan is powered by a 1.4-liter, inline four-cylinder, DOHC 16 valves with Variable Valve Timing petrol engine which delivers 92 hp at 6,000 rpm and 130 N-m of torque at 4,000 rpm. Suzuki utilized the transmission technology from the Ertiga to deliver best-in-class fuel efficiency courtesy of the four-speed automatic gearbox in two variants, while the GL has the five-speed manual option.
The Ciaz is available in five colors, namely, Pearl Snow White, Metallic Star Silver, Metallic Mineral Grey, Pearl Super Black and Prime Dignity Brown. Prices are P738,000 for the GL M/T; P773,000 for the GL A/T; and P888,000 for the GLX.
