BY next week, the Philippines will be all about the Miss Universe 2016 pageant and the lovely contestants who are coming from all over the world.
But here’s the exciting part. Not only is MAC Cosmetics the official makeup sponsor of Miss Universe 2016, but the makeup artists will be an all-Filipino team. At press time, we were still waiting for the list of makeup artists who will be part of the team because MAC Cosmetics Philippines was still finalizing the lineup. Hopefully, I’d be able to give you the names of the makeup artists in my next column and maybe brief bios.
So far, I am sure the lineup includes Raf Manosca and Mhike Gonzales, both young and extremely talented makeup artists. They are two of MAC Philippines’s frontliners.
Of course, we know that Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach is a MAC girl and that her favorite makeup artist is MAC affiliate Gery Penaso. So maybe Gery will also be part of the team. Pia even did a video tutorial on how she did her makeup and most of the products she used were from MAC Cosmetics.
Thanks to Vanessa Vergara, MAC
Cosmetics Philippines PR/AR executive, we learned that all contestants will get a #MACxMissUniverse kit containing some of the brand’s most iconic products.
Okay, if you are a MAC fan and/or obsessed with beauty contests, then you have to get this kit. Honestly, I have many of the products on the list but I still want to get it.
Here are some of the MAC products for #MACxMissUniverse:
- MAC Studio Fix Fluid Foundation SPF15. This is MAC Cosmetics’s most popular foundation. It is a makeup artist’s favorite. It offers medium to full coverage and sets to a semimatte finish. There are over 30 shades of this foundation, which means there’s got to be one for you.
- MAC Eye Brows. MAC Eye Brows in Lingering is something you should have in your makeup kit if you love your brows. This self-propelling and self-sharpening pencil in a soft brown taupe is a versatile product that’s travel friendly because it’s so thin. It’s perfect for the beauty queens who will be always on the go, because this can fit in a clutch.
- MAC Lipstick in Twig. Twig is one of my all-time favorite lipsticks. It is a pink-brown in a Satin finish that would suit anyone. It’s a very 1990s color that is somehow timeless.
- MAC Strobe Cream. What exactly is Strobe Cream? It is a pearly white cream normally used by makeup artists to highlight certain areas of the face or even body (like the shoulders or cleavage). But it is also one of the best moisturizers there is. If you’ve had a late night and your skin is showing it, a pea-sized amount will fix that.
- MAC Mineralized Skinfinish Natural. This pressed powder provides the most natural looking finish. It has a semi-matte finish and a moderate amount of pigment, but it can be sheered down. MSF Natural also blurs pores and can be worn alone over sunscreen and moisturizer, or as a finishing powder over foundation. If you are looking for a natural-looking bronzer, you can go for MSF Skinfinish Natural that two or three shades lighter.
- MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo. What would the #MACxMiss Universe kit be without the brand’s iconic red lipstick? This Retro Matte lip color, a favorite all over the world, is also part of the kit.
These products are only some of the makeup in the kit. If you want to experience how it is to be made up like Miss Universe, you can go to any MAC boutique or counter.
