THE hardworking people behind It’s Showtime, ABS-CBN’s daily noontime show, recently held a thanksgiving afternoon party for the press. The soiree was to celebrate the program’s high rating (In fact, last Saturday, the noontime show tallied a record high of 33.6 percent during the Tawag ng Tanghalan finals. Noven Belleza from Negros Occidental deservedly won the contest, singing a medley of Air Supply songs).
I was one of the lucky few invited to the thanksgiving party where members of the press were given the privilege to talk to show mainstays Vice Ganda, Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Jugs Jugueta, Teddy Corpuz and Ryan Bang, among others.
Those following my column can easily predict, which Showtime mainstays I shrieked overthe most: The Girltrends. You’re an idiot if you believed that.
Of course, I lost my voice cheering for The Hashtags. For those who don’t know, The Hashtags is a group of young men who showcase their dance moves in It’s Showtime.
The Girltrends, meanwhile, are their women counterparts. Zzzzz….
Anyway, The Hashtags is composed of Ronnie Alonte, Ryle Santiago, Tom Doromal, Nikko Natividad, Luke Conde, Jon Lucas, Jimboy Martin, Jameson Blake, Zeus Collins, Paulo Angeles and McCoy de Leon. They are all handsome and charming. Of the 11 boys, I’m most in love with Tom and Nikko. Tom is like the hot jock classmate you fantasized about when you were in college. Meanwhile, Nikko looks like the maangas one, but deep inside, you know he’s a tender lover. Don’t get me wrong though. I love them all for different reasons. My heart skips a beat when you mention any of them to me. Writing about them is actually giving me chest pains.
When The Hashtags dance, each time one of them so much raises an eyebrow, I would go, ahihihihihihi; or sometimes I would go, teeheeheeheeheee. Sometimes, it’s a combination that goes: ahihiteeheeahihiteeheeheee. They’re all so hot that most of the time, unintelligible sounds come out out my mouth when I think of them. I’d always stop myself from using what little influence I have on ABS-CBN to protest the fact that these boys haven’t even performed topless on It’s Showtime.
Recently, the group welcomed new members to their fold, and they are Vitto, Franco, Wilbert, Bugoy, Maru, CK, Kid and Rayt. Vitto is super charming while Franco always has a smile plastered on his face. Wilbert is Boy Abunda’s ward. Maru has a nice luxury watch (a Panerai submersible). Bugoy is the youngest and maybe recruited for the twink-loving demographic. Those are the only things I can write about them. Maybe if I watch more episodes of It’s Showtime, I’d get to know the new members more.
The Hashtags makes up the kilig ambassadors of Showtime. Google the word kilig and this comes out: “In the context of Philippine culture, the Tagalog word kilig refers to the feeling of excitement due to various romantic situations, such as making first eye contact with one’s crush, or watching another person propose to someone. There is no exact equivalent English term for kilig.”
But ask me what kilig is, and for me it’s when you say ahihihihihihi or teeheeeheeeheee when you see someone. Or sometimes it’s a combination that goes ahihihiteeheeahihihiteeheeehee.
