Jeppesen in I.T .deal with AirAsia Group
JEPPESEN Sanderson Inc. announced on April 11 it recently signed a multiple-year agreement with AirAsia Group to provide digital charting and electronic flight bag (EFB) services for all affiliates of the low-cost airline operator. The agreement covers a total of six airlines within the AirAsia Group, which are based in Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, India, Indonesia and the Philippines.
The AirAsia Group will receive tailored digital flight information and Jeppesen FliteDeck Pro EFB services on Window tablets to optimize operations. According to Jeppesen, its FliteDeck Pro allows the AirAsia Group to operate more efficiently by eliminating paper content, which improves fuel consumption.
Canonical releases Ubuntu ver. 17.04
UNITED Kingdom-based Canonical Ltd. announced on April 13 the release of version 17.04 of Ubuntu, an operating system (OS) for container, cloud, scale-out and hyperscale computing. In a statement, the privately held computer software company said version 17.04, the 26th release of Ubuntu, supports Kubernetes, Docker, LXD and Snaps. “The breadth and pace of open source innovation has made it the center of gravity in technology today, and the Ubuntu community has once again delivered the most reliable way to consume that innovation,” Canonical and Ubuntu Founder Mark Shuttleworth was quoted in the statement as saying.
Upstream taps Applause for mobile service delivery
APPLAUSE App Quality Inc. announced on April 11 it is working with mobile commerce accelerator Upstream Technologies LLC. to sell mobile experiences for consumers in emerging markets.
