WORDTEXT Systems Inc. (WSI) launched its tablets called “Phoenix WinTab” targeting students and first time users.
“WSI wants to be active in this segment because many users use these barometers when buying a tablet,” WSI President Juan Chua said in an interview.
The firm’s model 7 has a standard retail price of P5,999 ($135.85), while WinTab 8 is priced at P6,999 ($158.49). The WinTab 10 is available at P11,999 ($271.72).
Calum Chisholm, country manager of Intel Philippines, said harnessing the technologies of his company is a good business strategy for WSI and has worked for the local market.
“Before, it would be hard to get a quality netbook at P12,000-level. We are excited on WinTab 10 because this will benefit a lot of students and first time users,” Chisholm said.
The WinTab 7-inch (diagonal), intended for the consumer market, is powered by a 1.33-gigahertz (GHz) quad-core Intel Bay Trail processor with a burst mode up to 1.83GHz with 2 megabytes (MB) shared L2 cache. It has a resolution of 800×1280.
The WinTab 7 has a height of 0.95 centimeters (cm), width of 19.1 cm and weighs 325 grams.
In terms of graphics and video support, the WinTab 7-inch can deliver quality images through the Intel high-definition graphics generation 7 and the HDMI video output. Both the front and rear cameras have a capacity of 2 megapixels each.
An 8-inch diagonal screen offers a 16:10 ratio in-plane switching. It has an Intel Bay Trail 1.33GHz quad-core processor.
Raphael Atienza, WSI’s Product Specialist for Phoenix WinTab, said the product is positioned for the consumer market.
