PROVING local brands’ competency against a cutthroat industry, Philippine-based company Starmobile has introduced two new smartphone models that combine innovation and practicality, both thoughtfully designed for the sensible Filipinos.
The Starmobile Knight X and the Starmobile UP Snap are the new additions to Starmobile’s impressive lineup of products that deliver exceptional performance at par with international brands, but at a more affordable price range.
The Starmobile Knight X is touted as the most advanced Pinoy Android phone at present, and is sort of a re-imagining and a combination of all Starmobile phones that launched the brand into stardom. “The Knight X is the next step for us in our mission to deliver high quality, yet still competitively priced devices to Filipinos,” Starmobile Vice Chairman and Head of Product Development Michael Chen said. “This is truly a smartphone that is inspired by and is made for the next generation Pinoy.”
The model features the latest Super Octa Core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. It runs on the MT6595M chipset from MediaTek and comes with a 32GB of internal storage.
Its display measures 5.5-inches diagonally and boasts a resolution of 1920×1080 or full HD. For connectivity, the Knight X sports multimode 4G LTE that can work across 15 frequencies around the globe. The Near Field Communication (NFC) capabilities and Wi-Fi AC also come standard in this model, ensuring that it is ready for next generation’s internet.
Its camera uses a 13-megapixel Exmor RS IMX135 sensor from Sony, with a five-piece lens that delivers vibrant and natural colors for crisp and lifelike images. It also comes with a 3350mAh battery, which when compared with competitors, is 40 percent larger in terms of capacity.
With all its impressive features, the Knight X could excellently perform heavy mobile gaming and demanding tasks such as full-HD video editing. At such feat, the model could so easily compete with international brands’ premium offerings.
Meanwhile, the Starmobile Up Snap will be a delight for the mobile shutterbugs. Claimed as the first local smartphone with an 8-megapixel UltraPixel camera, the model is capable of shooting photos with more detail and crisper colors. Image quality is further improved with the help of the f2.0 wide aperture lens, which allows more light to reach the UltraPixel sensor. It also runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and comes with a 2900mAh battery for a better mobile experience.
“Filipinos are fond of taking photos and the UP Snap is just the phone for them,” Chen said. “This is Starmobile’s best mid-range camera phone to date and we are thrilled to be the first to offer UltraPixel technology,” he added.
In time for launching the new models, Starmobile introduced as well a new naming convention for its entire range of products. According to Chen, the new names will help consumers choose which Starmobile products fit their needs the best.
The brand’s featurephones, popular for Filipinos’ basic calling and texting needs, is now called UNO.
The entry-level smartphones, conversely, is now called Play, after Starmobile’s best-selling Android smartphone which offers a fun and hassle-free experience especially for smartphone newbies.
On the other hand, the Jump range will feature devices designed as an affordable companion to jumpstart the interests of users—from watching movies, listening to music, taking photos or traveling all day. Meanwhile, the brand’s competitive tablets, is maintaining the existing Engage label.
For those looking for more advanced features, Starmobile offers the value-packed UP series. And for its very best offering, Starmobile’s Knight range boasts of today’s innovations at an unbeatable price point.
Also a part of Starmobile’s latest movements is the introduction of its newest ambassadors: the Boys Night Out comprised of Sam YG (Sam Gogna), Tony Toni (Tony Bueno) and Slick Rick (Eric Virata).
The trio, who rose to success as hosts of the hit radio show Boys Night Out, has also delved into television with their latest show Boys Ride Out and other business ventures.
Maintaining their brand of wit and humor even on a packed schedule, the Boys Night Out was eyed as a perfect representation for what Starmobile stands for—a brand committed to providing satisfaction and happiness to Filipinos by offering a lineup of reasonable mobile devices at the most practical price range.
