BLOOMBERRY Resorts Corp. on Thursday said it will open its Solaire’s new hotel tower, a facility that forms part of its $1-billion resort and casino in Entertainment City.
The company said that its Sky Tower will have an additional 312 rooms, VIP gaming areas, an exclusive Chinese restaurant and whiskey and cigar bar for VIP gamers, meeting rooms and a lyric theater.
The opening of the said facility was ahead of the supposed opening of City of Dreams Casino of Melco Crown, the launch of which was pushed back toward the end of the year.
It forms part of the Phase 1-A of Solaire, which include nightclubs and retail for the upscale market.
“Yet, again, we are on track and on spec with this opening—all in all only 617 days since Solaire’s inaugural in March,” Enrique Razon Jr., Bloomberry chairman, said in a statement.
Hotel room sizes ranged from 124 square meters to as large as 936 sq m, the company said.
“Each suite has a resort ambiance with timeless and luxurious finishes and amenities,” it added.
The new gaming facilities at the third level include 10 gaming salons with 66 VIP gaming tables and 223 slot machines. VIP gamers have exclusive access to House of Zhou and to The Macallan Whisky and Cigar Bar also at the third level.
It also has a 2,000-sq-m meeting facility that includes eight meeting rooms, two boardrooms and a column-free grand ballroom, and a flexible prefunction area. The ballroom has a capacity of 1,000 for table seating or 1,300 for a reception or conference. It can be divided into five rooms for more intimate events. The Sky Tower features two restaurants, the Waterside Restobar and Oasis Garden Café.
Solaire is also opening its 1,760-seat lyric theater for plays and musicals, dance performances, concerts, and amplified music and speech events. The Razon-controlled firm earlier said it reached a profit of P3.3 billion for the nine-month period ending in September, or a turnaround from the P868-million loss reported last year.
Gross revenues more than doubled to P22.44 billion, from last year’s P9.88 billion.
It said the strong earnings momentum in the third quarter has also allowed Bloomberry to realize an P811 million in retained earnings from a deficit of P2.48 billion at the beginning of the year.
For the third quarter alone, it reported gross revenues of P7.67 billion, 58 percent higher than the P4.87 billion last year with profit growing more than sixfold year on year to P992 million from P165 million.
