The Golden Treasure Skills and Development Program will conduct a two-day seminar on laundry-shop operation. This will be held at the College of Social Work and Community Development, Magsaysay Avenue, corner Ylanan Street, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City, on February 21 and 22 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The seminar will give participants information on how to get started on how to set up a laundry shop. The key topics to be discussed are introduction to the laundry-shop business, factors in the cleaning process, care labels guide, laundry-shop layout, types of laundry, overview of the laundry, feasibility study, how much capital needed to start up, what type of equipment, machines to be used, how to find location, staff requirements and when is the return of the investment and how much. Also the work flow will be tackled in details such as receiving, sorting, segregating, tagging, spotting, soaking, washing, drying, folding and packing, wet cleaning and dry cleaning procedure for barong, coat, gowns, special fabric will also be discussed.
And since a water-refilling station is also a possible business when you have a laundry shop, as a bonus course there will be a brief lecture to give the participants an option and overview on how to set up a water refilling station so that the waste water can be used to wash the laundry.
Also topics to be discussed on water- refilling business are the differences between water product like mineral, purified and alkaline. Basic equipment and supplies needed. Basic processing: knowing how to tap waste water to be used and recycled for laundry business.
And because laundry chemicals are essential, too, participants will get to learn through actual demonstration on how to make basic cleaning products, such as powder soap, fabric softener and liquid bleach to save money.
