THE proliferation of gyms around the metro is a positive sign that a good part of the population is taking their health and fitness to heart. The tricky part however, is finding a workout place that is easy to warm up to and be in your own element—whether one is a first time gym goer or an elite athlete.
Royal MNL Fitness (RMF), conveniently located at the third floor of Fisher Mall in Quezon City, is giving the competition a run for its money with its attractive selling points. An ocular inspection of the place is enough to convince one that this place offers so much more. With a floor area of almost 850 square meters, the fitness center houses a 70m oval track, numerous exercise machines, a boxing ring, a reception area, a snack bar, locker and shower rooms, a floor space to simultaneously practice various martial arts, kinesis, and cross training. Needless to say, it is a no- nonsense haven for those who are a serious to commit to reach their fitness goals.
More than its impressive floor area, Royal MNL Fitness takes pride in its family-oriented gym community to differentiate itself from the multitude of gyms. There is something for everyone to try out and enjoy. Here you can find a four-year-old kid practicing the martial art Wushu. It is also home to a 70-year-old gym goer. And, as this writer has observed, several happenings occurring at the same time -leading to the peak hours of the fitness center: millennials, still fresh from their day job, are busy learning their straights, hooks, and jabs inside the boxing ring. Men ,clad in their aikidogi, who are well into their 50s are exhibiting mastery of their art as they effortlessly throw one another on the rubber mats as they practice their Aikido moves. A group of young boys happily jogs around the oval track as they warm up for their Taekwondo class. A number of personal trainers are helping out gym goers with stretching moves.
Another thing that RMF has going for itself is the approachable staff it has. There are three gym floor managers and 8 licensed coaches for crossfit and hybrid on stand by to assist clients.
For those curious to tryout its services for free (gym, muay thai, kinesis, boxing, arnis, jiu jitsu, cross training, taekwondo, weightlifting, strength conditioning basketball clinic, karate, capoeira, wushu, aikido, and to be offered starting this month-mixed martial arts, hip hop, and zumba) avail of its monthly open house which usually happens on a Saturday.
Interestingly, the monthly rates are a bang for your buck. Gym rates include the 7-day program, which consists of familiarity with equipment, exercises for specific body parts, and a day of personal training session for clients to experience the supreme edge it offers. Royal MNL Fitness owner Conrado “GK” Gicanal stressed that a personal trainer is like a shadow that will not leave you. It challenges one and pushes one to the limit to achieve one’s fitness goals. However, he added that there is no hard selling at his gym to avail of personal training sessions. He even recounted his unpleasant experience in a former gym where he used to go wherein he was treated differently when he did not avail of the programs offered by the coaches. He made sure that clients in his gym will not encounter the same problem.
With all the bases covered, Royal MNL Fitness has just made choosing a gym/fitness center a lot easier. See for yourself and pay the man and his castle a visit.
