SAN MIGUEL Beer point guard Alex Cabagnot’s clutch plays has brought him wonders in the ongoing Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup.
But the Beermen’s spitfire has company in the race for the Best Player of the Conference (BPC)—his teammate Chris Ross.
Ross, who owns two Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) trophies, averaged 13.19 points, 5.19 rebounds, 8.06 assists and a league-leading 2.94 steals in 16 games.
Those numbers gave him 34.125 statistical points (SPs), the same total for Cabagnot, who booked norms of 15.13 points, 6.56 boards, 5.06 assists and 1.19 steals in the tournament. Another Beerman, June Mar Fajardo, ran third. The 6-foot-10 three-time MVP has averages of 15.6 points, eight rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 15 games for 33.067 SPs.
In the Best Import category, Star’s Ricardo Ratliffe has a huge lead from Blackwater’s Greg Smith.
The Hotshots’ reinforcement amassed 61.556 SPs after registering eye-popping numbers of 32.22 points, 20.78 rebounds and 2.33 blocks.
Smith, on the other hand, posted 27.18 points, 22.09 boards and 4.91 assists for 52.909 SPs.
