After the successful launch in Legazpi City and the second leg in Boracay, the “Lakbay Turo Para sa Micro-Tourism” of the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA) will be heading to Bacolod and Iloilo for the third and fourth editions of the seminar series.
The seminar in Bacolod will be on April 14 at the SMX Convention Center in SM City Bacolod, while the Iloilo leg will be on April 16 at Diversion 21 Hotel, BS Aquino Avenue, Iloilo City.
The PRA is conducting the Lakbay Turo Para sa Micro-Tourism seminar series in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Department of Tourism (DOT).
PRA President Lorenzo C. Formoso, COO of Duty Free Philippines, said the good turnout of small retailers in the previous editions of the Lakbay-Turo seminars shows the eagerness of entrepreneurs to grow their business and catch up with the trends in the retailing industry.
“We are making sure that the Iloilo and Bacolod editions of the seminar series will be just as successful as the first two legs in terms of attendance and topics to be discussed because Bacolod and Iloilo are two of the most important tourism destinations of the country,” Formoso emphasized.
The PRA is now in close coordination with Jean Cortum of DOT-Region 6 for the next editions of Lakbay Turo.
In the Boracay leg, small- and medium-sized retailers learned the basics of microretailing with internationally
renowned expert in retail and human resource development, Francisco T. de la Cruz Jr. who served as the speaker of the one-day seminar held at Seawind Resort Hotel, where he discussed “Learning the Basics and Essentials of Effective Micro-Retail Operations.”
The seminar series for microretailers is being conducted in different tourism destinations in the country with the DOT’s successful “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” global campaign.
The PRA-DOT program is part of the retail sector’s preparation for the country’s hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Conference Leaders’ Summit in November this year, and the Asean Economic Integration that starts later this 2015.
The PRA, the country’s recognized organization of retailers and suppliers to the retail industry, will host the 17th Asia Pacific Retailers Convention and Exhibition (APRCE) 2015 from October 28 to 30 at the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.
The 17th APRCE is the biggest and most important retail industry event in the Asia- Pacific region organized by the Federation of Asia Pacific Retailers Association, the regional organization of recognized national retail associations of its 17 member-countries in the Asia Pacific.
