MITSUBISHI Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC), the exclusive distributor of Mitsubishi cars in the country, recently unveiled the latest upgrades of its Mitsubishi Pajero and ASX during an exclusive launch for the motoring media held at the Capitol Commons in Pasig City.
According to MMPC Executive Vice President for Marketing Junya Masuda, “I am very thrilled to formally introduce to you our redesigned ASX and Pajero models. Our engineers and designers devoted considerable time and talent to revamp these models.”
Masuda added, “MMPC remains a strong No. 2 in industry sales owing to a strong presence in the industry specifically in the SUV segment.
“The Montero Sport, for instance, remains the best-selling mid-sized SUV with average monthly sales of 1,400 units. With the enhanced ASX and Pajero, we’re confident that we will also improve our standings in the small and full-sized SUVs and further secure the SUV heritage of Mitsubishi Motors.”
2015 Mitsubishi Pajero
For many decades, the Pajero has been the exemplary SUV of Mitsubishi and has enjoyed a more than healthy following for more than three decades.
The 2015 Pajero offers a new bumper-integrated chrome-plated radiator and front grille with silver accent garnish in addition to new HID headlamps with automatic high beam control function, new LED daytime running lamps (DRL) and fog lamps. These new smart features not only strengthen the Pajero’s front stylish character but also offers a safer drive. With the automatic high-beam control function, the Pajero’s headlamps automatically shift from high to low beam as a courtesy to oncoming vehicles. Beauty stands on Pajero’s feet, thanks to its newly 18-inch alloy wheels that provide a solid presence, while its new tailgate complemented with a newly designed spare tire carrier completes the 2015 Pajero’s exciting exterior.
Interior-wise, the Pajero comes with a new carbon fiber piano black instrument panels and door trim along with a superb multimedia system. Buyers have a choice of either a 3.8-liter Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control (Mivec) V6 gasoline or a 3.2-liter common-rail turbo diesel engine. The 2015 Mitsubishi Pajero is priced at P2.5 million for the V6 gasoline and P2.7 million for the diesel variant.
2015 Mitsubishi ASX
The ASX comes in two variants—the GLS CVT and the top-of-the-line GSR CVT—both are 2WD models. Added specs for the GLS include new 17-alloy wheels, tonneau cover, retractable headlamp washer, tire pressure monitoring system, reverse camera, second row center armrest and an improved Invecs–III CVT transmission that delivers better fuel mileage. Meanwhile, the top-of-the-line GSR CVT has a reverse sensor, daytime running lamps, black leather seats, super wide range HID headlamps and a panoramic sun roof with LED illumination. Inside, the ASX has an all-black dashboard with sporty and vibrant look. The dashboard is ergonomically placed for the comfort and convenience of both the driver and passengers.
The steering wheel has tilt and telescopic adjustment to fit the driver’s preference. Both variants are now equipped with Engine Start/Stop button. Standard features of the ASX include the LCD type multiinformation display monitor that shows trip meter information, fuel economy and average speed, among others.
To provide a neat yet sophisticated stance, the GSR variant comes with genuine leather seat covers, while the GLS variant has high-grade fabric seat covers.
Adding to the ASX’s fun factor is the entertainment system, which has a 6.5-inch touchscreen LCD monitor and can play your favorite DVDs or music from either your iPod or USB stick.
It is also equipped with a dealer option, user-friendly GPS navigation system. The 2015 ASX is powered by a 2.0-liter 16-Valve DOHC Mivec gasoline engine that produces 150 ps at 6,000 rpm and 197 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed Sportronic mode CVT that is now improved to deliver better fuel consumption and acceleration response. The 2015 ASX is priced at P1.148 million for the GLS version and P1.248 million for the GSR variant.
