The average price of regular milled rice in trading centers all over the country remained stable for the week ending June 19, according to the latest data released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
The PSA noted that in some areas, the price of special rice and premium rice recorded increases.
“Rice special was sold lower by P1 per kilogram in Zamboanga City but higher by P0.50 per kilo in Tuguegarao City. The price of rice premium went up by P1 per kilo in Batangas City but decreased by the same amount in Zamboanga City,” the report read.
As for meat and poultry, the PSA said the prevailing prices of pork and beef remained at the previous week’s levels.
“[But] the price of dressed chicken rose by P5 per kilo in Tuguegarao and Tacloban cities, but declined by the same amount in Batangas City,” the report read.
The PSA said the prices of fish species it monitored registered varied movements.
“Alumahan [mackerel] was cheaper by P20 per kilo in the cities of Legaspi, Naga and Butuan. Price per kilo of bangus [milkfish] was reduced by P20 in San Fernando City,” the report read.
The PSA said milkfish was more expensive by P20 per kilo and P10 per kilo in Naga and Tuguegarao cities.
“Galunggong [round scad] registered price decrements of P10 per kilo to P20 per kilo in six trading centers. Its price was higher by P25 per kilo in Cotabato City,” the report read.
As for condiments, the PSA said the price of red onion rose by P10 per kilo in the cities of Tacloban and Cotabato. Red onions, however, were cheaper by P10 per kilo in Batangas and P5 per kilo in Kidapawan.
