Mandaluyong City holds the newest Guinness World Record for having the largest Zumba class ever recorded on Sunday. A total of 12,975 participants, mostly members of Kababaihang Kakaibang Mandaluyong, danced their way to a healthy lifestyle beating Cebu City, which won the award last year.
A licensed Zumba instructor helped the participants to get them moving toward a healthier life through the dance fitness experience level to enjoy the workout.
“Mandaluyong City is the recipient of best in nutrition [Green Banner Award (Best in Nutrition Program Management and Implementation] award. It’s not only about nutrition but promoting a healthy lifestyle like Zumba ,” Mayor Benjamin D. Abalos said in an interview noting that people from all walks of life participated the event on Sunday.
Abalos said the city government will continue to participate in such activity, saying, “We will be doing this every year, as part of our commitment, not because of the award but because we do believe in the advocacy of healthy lifestyle.”
Alan Pixsley, the official representative from Guinness, was the one who handed over the award to Abalos.
