LIVESTOCK feed maker Philippine Foremost Milling Corp. (PFMC) bagged top honors from the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) for strict adherence to international manufacturing and food- safety standards.
Cited were PMFC’s state-of-the-art facilities in Manila and Iloilo City—the country’s only commercial feed mills that are ISO 22000:2005 Food Safety Management System-certified. Both manufacturing plants also conform to the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point/Codex Alimentarius Commission and the Good Manufacturing Practice international standards issued by SGS Philippines.
PFMC Vice President for Trade Feeds Terence Uygongco received the award from BAI officials during the recent industry recognition night at the Livestock 2015 Philippines Expo.
Producing feed products since 1994, PFMC continuously develops and innovates its products and processes. A member of the La Filipina Uy Gongco Group of Companies, the firm produces and markets feeds for hogs, broilers, layers, pigeons, fish and game fowl.
“With our flagship brand Excel, raisers are always assured of high-quality, safe and high-performing feeds,” Uygongco said in a statement.
With food safety a growing global concern, “Food Safety from Farm to Shelf” is the theme for this year’s Livestock Expo. In his keynote speech, President Aquino pushed for global competitiveness of the local livestock industry through food safety. The government’s goal is to maintain high-quality standards of local product and ensure the industry’s growth and development, he said.
Supporting the government’s campaign for food safety and security, Uygongco said PFMC is fully committed to produce high-quality, safe and globally competitive products. The company disseminates information on food safety through seminars and activities that broaden the knowledge of animal raisers and consumers, while uplifting the livelihood of Filipino farmers.
