ASIDE from Kiehl’s lip balm and shampoo, I have never tried any of the brand’s other products. I once bought their blue toner/astringent for my daughter. But I have never used any Kiehl’s product on my face.
Anyway, I was sent a bottle of its Dermatologist Solutions Nightly Refining Micro-Peel Concentrate (P3,185). I’m squeamish about peeling products because I have seen how harsh they can be. Kiehl’s overnight peel claimed to be different because it utilized Quinoa Husk Extract formulated with fruit acids, cactus extract and phytic acid.
Roberta Weiss, head of Product Innovation at Kiehl’s, said quinoa seeds have been discovered to possess “exemplary skin exfoliation benefits”.
Kiehl’s overnight peel is gentle enough for those with sensitive skin. After three months of daily use, I did notice a more refined skin texture. I didn’t notice any irritation, tingling or peeling. Kiehl’s also recently launched its new campaign, #DoItBetterWithKiehls, which wants to let men and women know that it doesn’t take a bunch of products to have good skin. Rather, it’s about making smart choices.
Along with the campaign, Kiehl’s also launched two new products. The first is the Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil (P1,800), a lightweight cleansing oil that gets rid of makeup and dirt without leaving a greasy layer on your skin.
Trivia: Midnight Recovery Concentrate is Kiehl’s best-selling product in the Philippines.
So if you’re already using the Midnight Recovery Concentrate, this cleansing oil is a good addition to your skin-care routine. I haven’t used this yet because of product overload (one of the perks of writing about beauty).
What I have tried is the Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream (P3,500), a moisturizer created for millennials. Well, I’m not a millennial but how could you resist a product with New Zealand Manuka Honey and Korean Ginseng Root? The product, which is encased in a pretty yellow jar, claims to “increase the skin’s glow and radiance while helping it to recover from skin damage”.
Once you include “glow” and “radiance” in the equation, I’m in!
Honestly, I almost gave away this cream because I didn’t like the way it smelled. I was comparing it to another product, which had a more pleasant fragrance. Note: The Pure Vitality Cream doesn’t smell bad; it’s just not as fragrant as most face creams.
Anyway, my daughter, who isn’t into beauty at all, swatched both creams on the back of her hand and declared that the Kiehl’s one seemed better. So I’ve been using Kiehl’s Pure Vitality Skin Renewing Cream for a month and I’m glad I didn’t give it away. It is the perfect moisturizer for summer because it’s very light yet still gets the job done.
I use it day and night after my toner and serum (a Cosmelan one) and I love it. My skin is softer and has a better texture and tone after only a month. Will I repurchase? Yes!
Kiehl’s is a brand I will definitely explore more thoroughly this year. Next, I want to try its Calendula cleanser and toner.
