THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Friday reported that the number of marijuana cultivation sites that were destroyed nationwide has notably increased in 2014.
Pdea said that a total of 506 marijuana plantations were destroyed in 2014, resulting in the destruction of P397.04 million worth of marijuana plants and sources, and the arrest of five drug personalities. The 2014 figure compares favorably with 451 plantations destroyed in 2013, an increase of 12.2 percent.
“From 2010 to 2014, a total of 1,481 marijuana plantation sites, mostly found in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), were eradicated by PDEA and other law-enforcement agencies,” PDEA Director General Undersecretary Arturo G. Cacdac Jr. said.
