President Aquino and other top government officials have commended the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) for its significant contributions to the public-private efforts to boost trade and investments in the country.
“I take this opportunity to thank your association for being among our government’s reliable partners in sustaining the gains of our resurgence. Because of your continued efforts to increase the global competitiveness of the Philippine franchise sector, we have witnessed the turnaround of our economy—from the Sick Man of Asia to the region’s Rising Tiger,” the President said (in a message).
Mr. Aquino has expressed confidence PFA’s upcoming Franchise Asia Philippines 2015 will serve as an effective platform for international franchise experts to share their knowledge and experiences with aspiring and existing Filipino franchisers to employ the best global practices that will cement the Philippines’s foothold in the upcoming integration of Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) into one common market that starts later this year.
“As we continue to write our nation’s story, let us instill in your industry a culture of integrity and enable our institutions to be pillars of true service. We can truly play a more significant role in nation-building by seizing all prospects made available to us in this era of hope and reform,” President Aquino emphasized.
Vice President Jejomar C. Binay said Asia’s biggest and grandest franchising event serves the franchising sector well by giving industry players the right type of venture suitable for them. It also presents many opportunities for existing franchisers to expand their businesses.
“I hope this event will prove successful and help in enlightening the participants on how to become more competitive in the ever-evolving global market and contribute not only to their own company’s growth, but also to our nation’s economy,” Binay said.
For his part, Trade Secretary Gregory L. Domingo has recognized the franchise association’s efforts that further liven up the market, which is crucial in ensuring the economy’s robust growth pace in the next few years.
“Now more than ever, businesses face new market opportunities brought about by increasing initiatives toward regional cooperation and economic integration. It is, therefore, imperative that we ensure that our entrepreneurs are empowered to face the challenges of greater global and regional competition,” Domingo stressed.
He said the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), together with the PFA, sees an increasing momentum towards the fulfillment of the promise to support local franchises in their venture overseas, in a bid to improve the competitiveness of Filipino enterprises across the region and in other parts of the world.
“Through partnership with our international allies and industry organizations such as the Philippine Franchise Association, we have been able to bring top Philippine fashion brands to trade expositions abroad,” Domingo shared.
“We commend the PFA for its initiative in bringing together representatives from the franchising sector under this event. Consistent with the shared thrusts of both DTI and PFA, such undertaking demonstrates their unified commitment to build an environment that encourages businesses to establish international linkages,” he added.
Franchise Asia Philippines 2015—organized by PFA and supported by the World Franchise Council (WFC) and the Asia Pacific Franchise Confederation (APFC)—is the biggest franchise show in Asia that serves as gateway to the emerging tiger economies in the Asia-Pacific. With more than 20 years of “bringing Asia to the world and the world to Asia,” Franchise Asia Philippines provides the platform to help the franchise industry grow not only in the booming Philippine market but also across the entire Asia-Pacific region.
Now on its 23rd year, the country’s longest-running franchise show will feature a two-day international franchise conference (June 10-11), a three-day international franchise expo (June 12-14), the Certified Franchise Executive (CFE) program (June 8-9) and educational seminars for aspiring franchisors and franchisees (June 12-14).
