EAGLES are considered the kings among birds. These creatures are large, powerful birds of prey, with heavy heads and strong beaks. The Philippine Eagle, for one, has an 8-foot wingspan and eyes that are 3.6 times more crystal-clear than those of humans, enabling them to spot potential prey from a very long distance.
The same goes with Aguila Auto Glass. No, they don’t literally fly around and hunt for prey like eagles do. But just like the namesake of the company’s owners, they are considered the kings in automotive safety glass in the country.
For over 60 years now, they have been handling the most extensive range of glass-related items, including windshields, backglass, doorglass, tempered glass, safety laminated glass, multilayered glass sealants, acrylic plastic, rubber, channels and mirrors for various
automotive-replacement applications.
“We are committed to serving the Filipino with our expertise and experience in glass. The synergy of our past and our present drives us to innovate and remain the leader in the Philippine automotive glass and replacement parts industry,” Aguila Auto Glass Vice President Fed Borromeo said.
“The brand has been the most recognized name in the Philippines for our service excellence and commitment to the Filipino for six decades now. And we will continue to do so,” he added.
Humble beginnings
The company, Universal Glass Co. Inc., with its trademark Aguila Auto Glass, was founded by husband and wife Atty. Lauro and Maria Aguila. In fact, their first store opened in the district of Avenida, Rizal, on February 18, 1952. The couple, then, only started with 150 square meters of store space and 500 square meters of warehouse space.
From the very beginning, the company has partnered with internationally renowned glass industry leaders, including PPG, Pilkington and Mikado, to further strengthen its manufacturing capability and improve the quality of its products. With the partnership, they were able to adapt the concept of “we install, while you wait,” which allows them to provide the proper product for a particular model at the quickest time possible.
Today, the company carries over 3,000 types of automotive glass for both old- and late-model Japanese, Korean, American, European and Chinese brands, including original and replacement windshields for a huge range of imported luxury models from Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche.
Their outfit also specializes in bus and truck windshields in various sizes, as well as made-to-order glass for custom and specialty vehicles such as the Philippine utility vehicle e-Jeep and rare car restoration projects.
They now have 23 branches across Luzon—Abad Santos, Alabang, Angeles, Baliwag, Banawe, Cabanatuan, Dagupan, Evangelista, Imus, La Trinidad, La Union, Laoag, Legazpi, Lipa, Marikina, Naga, Pasig, Quezon Avenue, San Fernando, San Pablo, Santa Rosa, Sucat and Valenzuela, with over 200 employees under their wing.
With foundations of superior quality and service firmly standing on the ground, the Aguila brand, like the powerful creature, will unceasingly rise to greatness and will undoubtedly sustain it in the years to come.
