If you want your building or property to be “future ready” in terms of fast Internet connectivity, the time to act is “NOW!”
NOW Corp., a listed company in the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), believes that the demand for more bandwidth will be stronger than ever, particularly in high-rise commercial and residential buildings with huge bandwidth requirements and hundreds of tenants trying to connect to the Internet.
As connecting to the Internet is fast becoming to be a “basic human right,” NOW Corp. offers property developers and building owners the opportunity to be part of the company’s network of interconnected buildings, all capable of delivering guaranteed and consistent high-speed Internet connectivity from 50 megabits per second (Mbps) to 700-Mbps to its tenants through fiber-in-the-air Internet services.
Being future ready means the building’s wiring structure for bandwidth should be able to handle the influx of a multitude of devices from desktops, laptops, tablets and smartphones. It is said many of these devices connect to the Internet during peak hours, especially during the so-called 7 p.m. slowdown, wherein bandwidth consumption is at its highest because of so many devices trying to surf the Internet, watch movies or stream music.
This is even true as more commercial buildings should be ready for the expected demand for high bandwidth coming from business- process outsourcing (BPO) companies. Already tagged as a “future market” for property developers, BPO companies are foreseen to expand even further their presence in the Philippines. They will, of course, need their call-center facility to have reliable, guaranteed and consistent broadband connection 24/7, 365 days of the year in order to operate seamlessly and not earn the ire of their clients. Property managers and real-estate developers only need to answer a few questions for them to determine if their building is future ready, according to Kristian Alisasis Pura, head of enterprise marketing of NOW Corp.
“Specifically, our questions center on the readiness of their property in terms of infrastructure, the compatibility of accommodating a 200-Mbps or 500-Mbps network, cabling structure, capability of handling bandwidth requirements of their tenants who will surely have a multitude of devices in their possession. With our Internet connectivity offerings, we will assuage the fears of property owners and tenants that there will be no downtime, no lag in connection. Now is the time for property owners and real-estate conglomerates to take charge of their bandwidth needs.”
And to make it easier for property owners, NOW Corp., through its President and CEO Mel Velarde, announced recently its “building partner” program where building owners and/or property administrators can now earn revenues via a commission scheme for every connection closed inside their building. “The concept is similar with world-wide techno companies, such as Airbnb and Uber, where the capital expenditure is being shared with building owners and an available revenue-sharing opportunity.”
This enables building owners to get a piece of the revenue and achieve return on their investments within 18 to 24 months. “In fact, building owners can even get up to 50-percent commission under this scheme. With this ‘shared economy’ concept, property owners and developers can earn and, at the same time, provide quality bandwidth to their tenants. This is definitely a ‘win-win’ situation for them,” Velarde added.
Building owners can upgrade their cabling infrastructure for as low as P499,000 (one-time upgrade)—NOW shall upgrade the building’s cabling infrastructure and provide them with a “starter broadband kit” which includes up to 10Mbps of bandwidth speed and a high-capacity router within a two-year period. The starter broadband kit can be used at the building’s common areas, such as the clubhouse or the lobby lounge. In addition to the broadband infrastructure and service, building owners and their tenants can tap into NOW’s pool of highly skilled information-technology (IT) consultants which includes network engineers, programmers/developers, project managers, IT business analysts and software testers for short-term and medium-term IT projects.
