The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said generation charge this month is likely to “remain at its low levels.”
“This will most likely lead to minimal adjustments to the overall electricity rate compared to last month, when we recorded lowest electricity rates since 2010, and the fifth consecutive month that rates decreased,” Meralco Spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga said.
The utility firm will announce the rates for October within the week.
Last month power rates dropped by P0.57 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), on account of a lower generation charge.
Generation charge, the largest component of a Meralco bill, decreased in September by P0.42 per kWh from August. At P4.13 per kWh, September’s generation charge is also the lowest since January 2010.
