MEXICO, Pampanga—The regional head for North Luzon of the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) has assured enough power supply for the region in the coming summer months.
Jose Arellano, NGCP regional head for North Luzon, gave the assurance at the sidelines after the inauguration of the NGCP Power Training Center here on Wednesday. He said even as persistent reports of “possible” power interruption due to low supply and big demand, “I don’t think that will happen for as long as we have a balance of demand and generation.”
Arellano said there is “enough supply of power” since “participation of other sectors and the Interruptible Load Program” could totally eliminate the problem.
“Maiibsan or totally maiiwasan [It can be removed or totally eliminated],” he said. He also said the NGCP gives out a forecast to the media on a daily basis.
Earlier Henry “Big Boy” Sy Jr., NGCP president and CEO, was on hand to lead the ribbon cutting for the opening of the NGCP Power Training Center (PTC), as well as the unveiling of the building marker and blessing of the NGCP Switchyard. The PTC will serve as the training hub of the substation maintenance and testing engineers and technicians in Luzon.
The facility houses the control room, lecture training rooms, switchyard and the District Command Center for disaster monitoring, which aims to enhance the technical skills and proficiency of the NGCP personnel.
