WITH that stretch of white-sand heaven called Boracay still top-of-mind among tourists both local and foreign, it’s no surprise the name has been appropriated by companies to market everything from rhums to restaurants.
One of the country’s leading group of resort developers is going in the opposite direction. Henann Group of Resorts (www.henann.com/boracay/), under the solid leadership of Chairman Dr. Henry Chusuey, recently welcomed a new milestone for its very first property on the island-paradise of Boracay. After 18 years of service as Boracay Regency Beach Resort and Spa, the triple A-rated resort is now known as Henann Regency Resort and Spa.
“Are we supposed to take this to mean that Henann has become a bigger brand than Boracay?” we teased Alfonso Chusuey over an al-fresco dinner at Henann recently, waiting to see if the elder Chusuey’s heir apparent would be discomfited.
The resort group’s executive vice president was, however, unflappable, giving a generous smile instead before saying: “Certainly not. The change in name from Regency to Henann—as with all our other properties in Boracay—is simply a matter of branding. We want to further strengthen Henann as a brand in the hospitality industry, and we feel that after almost two decades of servicing the tourist market in Boracay, Henann as a brand is something that we can now leverage.”
The change in name notwithstanding, Henann Regency remains committed to providing quality accommodations to its guests and as such, the Chusueys made sure all of the resort’s 302 rooms are spacious and well-appointed, have blissfully comfortable beds, stately bathrooms plus all the modern conveniences that will truly make one’s stay speak nothing but comfort and luxury.
The resort’s Main and North Wings, located right at the beachfront, are perfect for those who want to have a splendid view of the captivating white-sand beach of the island-paradise, while the East Wing is perfect for those who want seclusion and privacy without sacrificing the convenience of being within close proximity to the beach.
Meanwhile, guests can look forward to a gastronomic feast during their stay at Henann Regency as the resort offers a variety of dining outlets. The newly renovated Sea Breeze Café has a modern contemporary design and bigger space and offers an extensive buffet of popular international dishes. Hap Chan offers authentic Chinese cuisine, while Mesa serves a wide selection of “Filipino moderne” cuisine. Fine dining is at its best at Christina’s, refreshing drinks and delectable snacks are best enjoyed at the East Wing Pool Bar, while delicious bar specials and signature drinks await guests at Wave Bar & Lounge.
Since its opening, Henann Regency has been part of Boracay’s elite list of renowned, topnotch resorts.
The triple A-rated resort continues to improve for the best, having its very own luxury spa, Kai Spa, and a top-of-the line, three-story convention center—one of the biggest on the island—with a Grand Ballroom that has been recently renovated.
“We want to assure our loyal patrons and guests that Henann Regency will continue its commitment of providing excellent service and value for money,” Chusuey said. “They can still look forward to having a fantastic, one-of-a-kind vacation with our splendid accommodations, great facilities, superb dining options and efficient service, with the aim of satisfying all their needs and creating new experiences for them without burning a hole through their pocket,” Chusuey added.
