ANGELES CITY—He’s barely a month in office but the Pinoy Gumising Ka Movement (PGKM) and other stakeholders at the Clark International Airport (CIA) are growing impatient over the apparent silence and lack of activity of newly appointed Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) President and Chief Executive Officer Emigdio “Dino” Tanjuatco Jr.
PGKM Chairman Ruperto Cruz said Tanjuatco is taking too long to announce his plans for the Clark airport. “What’s his mission?” Cruz asked.
“What now? We need to know what direction we are headed? Nanung asahan tamu caya? [What can we expect from him?],” Cruz asked. “We don’t want the taxpayers’ money to be wasted,” he said.
“Will he be the messiah or just a much-ballyhooed appointee coming in with unparalleled mediocrity?” Cruz asked.
“If he remains on his seat at CIAC, he will only lay eggs,” Cruz said.
More than three weeks into his appointment, Tanjuatco has yet to announce his plans for CIA. Tanjuatco, a second cousin of President Aquino, was nominated as president and CEO during the CIAC board meeting in Makati on September 30 and immediately assumed his new post.
“We have yet to hear anything from him [Tanjuatco], considering the impact of Clark on the lives of the people here not only in Pampanga, but also in the progress of Central Luzon and the country,” Cruz said.
“What’s going on? It’s been 23 years [of] waiting for the airport to be fully developed and it seems it won’t be done in the administration of President Aquino,” Cruz lamented.
