ASIAN Football Confederation (AFC) Cup 2017 campaigners Ceres Negros and Global Cebu battle Stallion Laguna and Davao Aguilas, respectively, today in the Philippines Football League (PFL).
Both matches will be played simultaneously at 4 p.m., with Ceres Negros hosting Stallion Laguna at the Pana-ad Park and Football Stadium in Bacolod City. Global Cebu, meanwhile, visits Davao Aguilas at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex in Tagum City.
Ceres Negros holds the distinction of being the first Philippine team to enter the Asean zone finals of the AFC Cup, a feat Global Cebu missed by a whisker.
Ceres is fresh from a 3-1 home win over Kaya Makati last Saturday through Spanish midfielder Bienvenido Marañon’s hat trick. Global, on the other hand, succumbed to a 1-2 defeat to league leader JPV Marikina last Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The Busmen try to boost their seven points built on two wins, a draw and a loss, as they take on an inspired Stallion Laguna side that recently forced a 1-1 draw with former league leader Meralco Manila also last Saturday for its third point.
The Cebu-based team, on the other hand, hopes to regain its winning ways and improve its 3-1-2 win-draw-loss record for 10 points.
But Global will have to work hard against an improving Davao Aguilas, who are coming off back-to-back draws for four points on four draws and three losses.
