SEEING the growing printing requirement in the office segment, Canon Marketing (Philippines) Inc. has collaborated with MSI-ECS Philippines for exclusive local distribution of its latest copier-printer machines meant to create a highly effective workplace.
Canon Marketing (Philippines) Inc. President and CEO Kok Hin Lim told reporters at the sidelines of a media briefing in Makati City on Thursday that they have found the right partner with MSI-ECS Philippines, whom they share a lot in common—culture- and business-wise—and an expansive network of more than 2,000 resellers nationwide.
“The Philippines is a country that you need a very good network to move your technology everywhere. For that, we are happy to find a suitable partner that knows the market really well, and has a very extensive network of dealers and partners that can help us distribute the technology [nationwide],” he said.
With their tie up, MSI-ECS Philippines will now officially carry and distribute Canon’s latest offerings, such as image Runner 1024 entry-level A4 copier and image Runner 2002 A3 copier.
Both are designed to meet the needs of small offices which, according to MSI-ECS Philippines President and CEO Jimmy D. Go, are still growing despite the emerging business trend of “going paperless.”
While the overall inkjet printing has gone down because the consumers now are printing less given the advent of smartphones and tablets, he said this is contrary to the laser-printing category that has so far realized a “two-digit” growth in terms of sales.
“In the business world, we still need to print. And this is true for any brands of laser printer, of which the number of [units] sold in the market is growing because you still need the print out if it’s a serious contract, for instance, which you have to sign or write something on,” he said.
Since Canon is regarded as a pioneer and one of the biggest players in the copier business and laser printer technology, Go sees their partnership helpful in their product-line expansion to such category.
Catered mainly to small-scale businesses, the two newly launched Canon multifunctional devices are advantageous for their cheaper cost of page given that the toners and drums are separated.
These all-in-one products enable them to achieve efficiency and productivity by accomplishing various tasks, such as scanning and faxing—apart from copying and printing, Go said.
“We are planning also to venture on other solutions with Canon, but more on higher-end [segment]. Probably, on document imaging,” Go said.
