DAVAO CITY—A Malaysian glass manufacturer is riding high on the booming infrastructure and property development activities in the Philippines, citing a steady grip on the construction market and growing acceptance of its regular and high-performance glass materials among Filipino contractors.
Malaysian company Ajiya Safety Glass Sdn Bhd., said it “sees a better glass manufacturing business in the Philippines, on the back of the rising construction activities,” according to a report by the Embassy of Malaysia Trade Office (Matrade).
“With more infrastructure and property projects in the Philippines, we’re optimistic about the growth in Ajiya’s order book coming from Filipino buyers,” Manila Matrade Commissioner Nyaee Ayup said.
She said Ajiya manufactures, processes, and trades safety glass and participated in the March 11 to 15 Worldbex 2015 held at the World Trade Center in Metro Manila.
Ajiya Sales Manager Low Yite Shung said they supply glasses from Malaysia direct to their clients in Manila.
“The market is good. The demand is there. We supply glasses for high-rise residences, office tower and shopping malls. Recently, we supplied glasses to a Christian church in Greenhills,” Shung said.
“We also supply glasses for the construction projects of subcontractors of big property developers in the Philippines,” he said.
Shung said demand from the Philippine market varies in specifications, from materials for skyline palace, stand, walkway, staircase and skylights.
“The price depends on the glass type, whether it’s regular or high-performance glass,” he said. Adding that the Ajiya company “manufactures and distributes tailor-made glass products to suit the requirements of their customers.” “The Philippine market is booming. Construction is everywhere. We don’t have any agent or distributor yet, but we do supply to Cebu through some of our customers in Manila,” he said.
Ajiya Safety Glass Sdn. Bhd. offers curved and flat tempered, heat strengthened, curved tempered, decorative coated, bullet and blast resistant, laminated, insulating, and security, safety, and storm-protection glass.
