Citystate Savings Bank announces the appointment of Wilfredo S. Madarang Jr. as independent director and concurrently as a member of the bank’s Risk Oversight, Corporate Governance and Audit Committees.
Before joining Citystate Savings Bank, Madarang had an impressive career with Isla Lipana and Company for the Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) firms in the Philippines. He worked with Isla Lipana for 40 years, joining the firm in November 1968, and retiring in July 2008 as deputy managing partner for Assurance and Business Advisory Services.
Between 1981 and 1982, he attended the Managers International Development Program and was admitted to the partnership in September 1985. He later held other important positions in the group, including leader of its technology, information, communication and entertainment practice; lead partner for business development from 2001 to 2008; member, PwC AsiaPac Markets Leaders Council; and member, Management Committee, Philippine Firm.
In his 40 years with the group, he performed assurance (audit) and business-services advisory experience in the Philippines and abroad in PwC programs. His work included due-diligence reviews, structuring acquisition transactions, initial public offerings and others services, involving clients in a wide variety of industries, especially technology, petroleum, chemicals/pharmaceuticals, retail and distribution and advertising.
Madarang is a member of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Picpa) and had served as the organization’s past national director and vice president; past chairman of the Public Practice Sectoral Council; and past trustee of the Picpa Foundation.
His other affiliations include the Junior Achievement of the Philippines Inc., where he is a former trustee and treasurer; Junior Chamber of the Philippines, where he was president of the Parañaque Jaycees, senator of Jaycees International; director and treasurer, JCI Senate Philippines, between 2006 and 2007; and chairman of The Outstanding Filipino Award in 2005.
Madarang is also a member of Rotary International where he has held various important positions between 1997 and 1998 when he served as president of the Rotary Club of Makati-Legazpi (District 3810).
