MACABEBE, Pampanga—At least 3,000 farmers and fishermen here benefited from the recent visit of Agriculture Secretary Proceso J. Alcala
Alcala and other agriculture officials came to hand over a farm tractor with backhoe, 193 kilos of various seedlings, nylon nets, heavy-duty plugs, laminated sacks, compact fluorescent lamps and 400 fruit-bearing trees.
Mayor Annette Flores-Balgan welcomed Alcala and the other officials. “I want to thank very much Alcala and the other officials for their valuable assistance to us. This is important to make my people realize the value of working and self-reliance,” Balgan said.
Alcala visited barangays San Jose, Telacsan, Tacasan and Saplad David. He inspected fishponds and rice fields.
Macabebe, one of the coastal towns of Pampanga, largely contributes to the aquaculture production of the province. Pampanga is the top producer of shrimps and tilapia in the country.
