FILIPINO enterprises should invest more in information technology (IT) to strengthen their operations, according to Emerson Network Power.
“For businesses in the Philippines to remain competitive, it is critical for them to enhance their existing IT infrastructures,” said Hans Bayaborda, country manager, Emerson Network Power Philippines.
He added that they should leverage on Internet of Things (IoT), which is growing at an exponential rate as more organizations are moving their infrastructure closer to the network edge to deliver efficient services to their customers.
By 2020 Gartner predicts that IoT will explode to 25 billion connected devices globally, and global spending will balloon to $263 billion.
With these trends in mind, Emerson launched a rapidly deployable and fully integrated solution called “SmartCabinet” to address the growing needs for IT capabilities. The SmartCabinet is a preengineered integrated rack solution designed for deployment to edge of network facilities such as stores, branch offices, remote locations, and small and medium businesses.
It is a simple packaged solution composed of a single rack with power protection, thermal management, power distribution unit, and infrastructure management and monitoring.
Equipped with Emerson’s industry-leading advanced online double conversion rack-mounted uninterruptable power supply, SmartCabinet is provided with highest level of protection to guarantee sustainable and stable operations.
Also with built-in rack-mounted air-conditioning system, it allows cold or hot air to circulate within the rack for better temperature and humidity control while operating 24/7.
The integrated thermal solution provides protection against dust significantly to reduce the risk of equipment breakdowns and to expand the lifespan of the IT equipment.
In addition, when a system failure occurs, users will be notified through an SMS or e-mail alert while a uniquely designed emergency cooling fan expels hot air within the rack to ensure that it remains running while waiting for maintenance personnel to arrive on-site.
“The SmartCabinet is perfect for rapid deployment to network edge facilities in industries, such as health care, business-process outsourcing, financial services and even government agencies, providing agility, flexibility and maximum efficiency,” Bayaborda said.
The SmartCabinet has a minimum price of $18,500 and by October next year, sales are expected to reach close to $1 million.
Following its launch in the Philippines, the solution will also be introduced to Korea by September.
Aside from SmartCabinet, as part of Emerson’s “Smart Solutions,” SmartRow and SmartAisle are also available for small data centers and network spaces, branch office and medium data centers, respectively.
Emerson Network Power is the world’s leading provider of critical infrastructure technologies and life cycle services for information and communications technology systems. It is present in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Unites States and Canada, Latin America, Middle East and Africa with sales last year of 19 percent, 29 percent, 42 percent, 6 percent and 4 percent, respectively.
