The Clark International Airport (CIA) will be operating at limited capacity until Friday, as its guidance system for low visibility landing bogged down on Monday.
According to its operator, the airport’s Doppler Very High Frequency Omni-Range (DVOR), a navigational guidance system that helps pilots locate and land on the runway during bad weather and low visibility, broke down due to reported lightning strike on May 4.
Hence, the issuance of the notice to airmen by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines during the said day.
Four commercial flights were affected and were diverted or rescheduled on Tuesday evening due to a problem in the air traffic facility at the CIA.
