LET’S not begrudge the beauty-obsessed when they want to lighten their complexion. It’s not out of shame of their being kayumanggi but a desire to have an even skin tone, with no dark spots and no unbecoming blemishes. There are also some we deride as age-deniers, holding on to their lost youthfulness. They may, for instance, only want their skin firmer, as sagging skin is unsightly. Still, we know of others who only shop during sales, always on the lookout for discounts. And we dismiss them as cheapskates.
KOJIESAN LIGHTENING SERIES
Amid the celebrity-powered soap brands dominating the current marketplace, Kojiesan is steadily carving a name for itself. For five years in a row, it won “Bath Soap Brand of the Year” at the Watson’s Health and Beauty Awards and was also cited as a Consumer “SM Top Choice” awardee.
The Kojiesan Lightening Soap’s winning formula is composed of high-grade Kojic Acid and virgin coconut oil, which is said to inhibit the activity of tyrosinase, the enzyme that produces melanin, which is the pigment responsible for the skin’s darker color.
The soap is part of a Classic Lightening Series, which includes a cleanser and toner, face-lightening cream and body-lightening lotion. Individually or together, Kojiesan products “even out skin tone, erase dark spots and other forms of skin pigmentations. It also corrects skin discoloration while lightening your skin.”
NIVEA EXTRA WHITE FIRMING BODY SERUM
Taut, tight and toned should ideally complement flawless, firm and youthful skin. Nivea’s newest innovation promises to achieve that in 14 days with its Extra White Firming Body Serum with SPF33. Its power ingredient is the Q10, which claims to “effectively firms skin and restores its elasticity.”
The nonsticky serum also contains 95-percent pure Vitamin C and Super Fruit Camu Camu extracts for “long-lasting whiter, firmer and smoother skin.” That is much-needed radiance to replace the dullness caused by aging and other detrimental lifestyle practices. And, please, be mindful of the sun’s damaging rays.
SWITCH AND SAVE WITH WATSONS
After feting the most important men in our lives with its Father’s Day promos, Watsons now encourages consumers to switch to its own Watsons Label products and save up to a whopping 80 percent.
For four hours a day, unbranded “Switch Test” booths were stationed for a day at the different Watsons stores on a weekly basis for four consecutive weeks. Beauty advisers played host to the activity, presenting each shopper with three Watsons Label personal-care products and a competing product. The featured products were changed for each participant/player.
The advisers then asked each shopper which product they prefer. Not surprisingly, most shoppers picked the Watsons Label products, which included shampoo, body wash, lotion, tissue paper and breath strips. The Switch Test results reinforce the proposition that, with Watsons Label, shoppers don’t just get to save up to 80 percent, but also get quality affordable products.
“In this way, we get more and more shoppers to switch and save with Watsons Label items. One of the reasons many shoppers have not yet switched to Watsons Label is because, for certain products, they still believe there will be a significant quality difference. This effort is designed to prove wrong their untested theory that ‘pricier means better,’” says Karen Fabres, Watsons group marketing manager.
Discerning shoppers also get to enjoy massive discounts on Watsons Generics, which includes maintenance medicines for diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol; antibiotics to fight off the common bacteria; dietary supplements for skin enhancement, antiaging and over-all wellness; basic vitamins, oral analgesics and other over-the-counter medicines.
Watsons offers a wider variety of products under its own label from personal-care items, beauty essentials and the Watsons Generics line, giving smart shoppers the choice to save as much as 80 percent without compromising on quality. Now, you can build your budget while you boost your savings.
