LENOVO Corp. launched recently in the local market latest devices in the firm’s ThinkPad lineup powered by Intel’s latest seventh Generation Kaby Lake processor.
Lenovo Philippines Country General Manager Michael Ngan said the company targets buyers from “the working class of today who are always on the go”.
“Our work methods are faster than ever. Workplaces are being reconfigured to encourage greater collaboration as more and more employees become mobile,” Ngan said. “To strive in this ever-growing digitized world, we need to be both flexible and agile.”
A total of four ThinkPad products were launched this week: the E470, T470, X270 and ThinkStation P410.
According to Ngan, some of the new features added to the latest lineup include a cleaner, premium TouchPad that supports Microsoft Precision TouchPad. New security features were also included to support Windows Hello for facial recognition login. There is also a biometric fingerprinting sensor.
According to the International Data Corp. (IDC), Lenovo topped the list of vendors in Asia Pacific (including Japan) in terms of shipments last year.
Lenovo “out-shipped” Dell and HP, second and third, respectively, with a 27.5-percent share of the market last year. However, in terms of unit growth year-on-year, Lenovo saw a 6.9-percent decline, while Dell and HP saw unit year over year growth rates of 3 percent and 2.3 percent, respectively.
“Year 2017 is expected to remain challenging. However, the market is likely to see stabilization, especially in the commercial space,” IDC has said in February. “Although smaller economies are likely to remain impacted by weak currencies and adverse economic conditions, China and Japan are expected to see more corporate renewals in the coming year, while India is expected to see another wave of big roll outs in the education sector.”
IDC said it expects consumer PC shipments to decline by 3 percent and commercial PC market to see a 1 percent growth in 2017 in Asia-Pacific region.
