BATANGAS City Mayor Eduardo Dimacuha recently awarded land titles to 19 beneficiaries of the government’s land transfer program.
The awarding of the land titles, dubbed “Handog Titulo ni Mayor Eddie Para sa mga Batangueno” held at the Teachers’ Conference Center in Batangas City will be the first of such event in the city, officials of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) said.
DENR Region 4A (Calabarzon) Lands, Patents and Deeds Division chief Marlou Pelayo-Alutaya and DENR-Batangas chief Jose Elmer Bascos joined Dimacuha in awarding the land titles to the beneficiaries.
The Handog Titulo is a public land titling and surveys program launched on February 4, 2014, in partnership with the DENR in Batangas City.
The DENR helped set up the Land Management Council and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office’s Land Management Unit.
“I am sure you will have peace of mind with the lands your homes are built upon are now officially yours, titled to your name,” Alutaya said
Recognizing the role of local government units in development, administration and management of the country’s land resources, DENR Calabarzon Regional Director Juan forged ties with the local government of Batangas City last year for the implementation of the land transfer program.
Section 1 of Republic Act 10023, or the Residential Free Patent Act, states that any Filipino citizen who is an actual occupant of a residential land may apply for a Free Patent Title under this act provided that the land applied for is not needed for public service and/or public use.
