Fast-food giant Jollibee Foods Corp. has signed a store management program run by the Ateneo de Manila University, effectively creating its own hamburger university.
Sources said an agreement was signed just days earlier that established a Jollibee University within the Ateneo Graduate School of Business (GSB) which has its own campus in Rockwell in Makati.
Ateneo GSB has assigned its Center for Continuing Education (CCE) to carry out the program.
Contacted for this story, Ateneo CCE and Jollibee confirmed the agreement but declined to provide details.
CCE, according to its web site, supplements and complements the Ateneo GSB’ program offerings by addressing issue-specific industry concerns requiring immediate, purposeful and focused response.
“CCE is an industry resource and partner, doing advocacy on emerging critical issues and convening interested entities so that together, they can tackle a common concern,” it said.
Many conglomerates have since established their own academies or universities to both strengthen their work force and operations, bypassing the need to send their employees to formal university program.
