MY friend Nancy, who is Jake Cuenca’s No.1 fan, has two major complaints about her power consumption.
First, she cannot understand the bills. In fact, she never reads them anymore. She just pays whatever amount the electric company puts on them.
Which leads me to her other complaint: The exorbitant amount she is being charged for electricity. “It just gets higher every month!” She accuses that the numbers posted on her bills are just pulled out of thin air. She alleges the people behind power company make the bills so elaborate with dozens of surcharges that nobody would ever bother reading them, she says.
This summer, Nancy has been trying to strategize her usage of air-conditioning in her tiny room. Still, she says that, no matter how many tipid tips she employs, her electric bill remains astronomical. She swears there would come the day that, in her rage over her outrageous power bill, she will just lose it, pull the airconditioner out of her wall and hurl it at someone.
That said, even amid her anger over her power bills, she still found the time to text and ask me about the rumor that Jake Cuenca walked out of a recent taping of Gandang Gabi Vice (yes, reports allege, it’s true—because he saw his ex-girlfriend in the studio audience as one of the candidates for this year’s Miss Earth and just wanted to avoid any possibility of an awkward situation) and when his new ABS-CBN show, Pasion de Amor, will premiere.
For those who don’t know, Pasion de Amor, which debuts on June 1 on ABS-CBN, is one of the most highly anticipated programs of the network. Besides Jake Cuenca, the show also stars Ejay Falcon, Joseph Marco, Ellen Adarna, Coleen Garcia and Arci Muñoz.
Pasion de Amor relives the passionate story of love and revenge between the Samonte brothers and Elizondo sisters. Despite being orphans at an early age, the Samonte siblings—namely, Juan (Jake), Oscar (Ejay), Franco (Joseph) and Olivia (Ingrid de la Paz)—grew up filled with love in their hearts and were tight-knit as a family. One mistake changes their lives when Olivia falls in love with the rich and married haciendero, Bernardo Elizondo (Ronaldo Valdez). After learning about her husband’s infidelity, Gabriela (Teresa Loyzaga) seeks revenge and only Olivia and Bernardo’s death can appease her. Gabriela proceeds with her plans and succeeds in getting rid of the two.
The Samonte brothers, quite understandably, are devastated with what happened to their youngest sister that they vow to do everything in their power to avenge her death. In order for them to do this, they step inside Hacienda Elizondo and with their irresistible charms and ripped bodies, the three seduce and make Bernardo and Gabriela’s daughters Norma (Arci), Sari (Ellen) and Jamie (Coleen) fall in love with them.
Can Juan, Oscar and Franco succeed in their plan to manipulate the Elizondo sisters? How far will revenge and hatred take them? In a battle where love is their greatest revenge, will love also be the cure to end their pain?
Filipino viewers first loved Pasion De Amor in 2007, starring Mexican superstar Mario Cimarro. This is the fourth telenovela locally adapted by ABS-CBN following the successful remakes of Rubi and popular Thalia-seryes Maria La Del Barrio and Maria Mercedes.
Directed by Eric Quizon, Pasion de Amor also stars Teresa Loyzaga, Aubrey Miles, Michelle Madrigal, Ahron Villena, Daria Ramirez, Alex Castro, AJ Dee, Ron Morales, Zeppi Borromeo, Ashley Rivera, Benj Bolivar, Nathaniel Britt, Mauro Lumba and June Macasaet.
Back to Nancy: I’m pretty sure that her electric bills will just get higher because she would definitely need her airconditioner in full blast when watching Pasion de Amor. Judging from the teasers and publicity photo of Jake and the cast just flaunting their bodies, the upcoming soap will definitely be one hot and sexy show! Good luck na lang sa iyo, Nancy, kung magkano aabot ang power bill mo.
Meanwhile, I will just have to stay away
from Nancy to avoid coming face to face with that flying airconditioner.
