GLOBAL’S newest acquisition Omid Nazari had a sensational debut in United Football League (UFL), finishing with a hat trick in their 7-nil massacre over Pasargad Football Club on Saturday at Rizal Memorial Stadium.
The former Iran national team booter scored his first goal in UFL in the 39th minute, giving a 3-0 spread. He continued to sizzle in the second half, hitting his second goal in 61st mark, then completed his hat trick at 71.’
Nazari, a former Malmö FF and Ängelholms FF player in Union of European Football Association Champions League, was happy with his UFL debut.
“It’s a good start for me and the team,” the Filipino-Swedish-Iranian midfielder said after their rousing win at the start of UFL Cup League 2016. “Now we keep on going. It’s a challenge for me. I have to adapt. Good start for me. I feel confident now.”
Global Coach Leigh Manson was very impressed on Nazari.
“We know what Omid is like with the ball,” Manson said. “Omid gives us a little extra dimension in that role that we’ve asked him to play, now it’s about making sure that he can do that for 90 minutes.”
“There’s no question that his understanding and knowledge for the game is very high and his attitude in training and what he can show about,” he added.
Izo Elhabib started the goalfest three minutes after the kick-off, then Hikaru Minegishi stretched the spread to 4-0 before half time after hitting a goal in 44’, connecting to his goal in 15’. Dennis Villanueva provided the seventh and last goal at 79’.
Meanwhile, JP Voltes and Forza also started their UFL Cup 2016 campaign with wins in Group A. Voltes took down Laos, 3-0, while Forza escaped Agila FC through own goal, 1-0.
