SOCIAL enterprise Edukasyon.ph recently tied up with Ayala Malls The 30th for a free global-academic fair, which featured foreign schools and embassies where Filipino students and professionals can look for study opportunities and scholarships overseas.
More than 10 schools from abroad and six international schools based here joined the embassies of Spain, Sweden and Canada in the event. Representatives from UK Chevening and the German Academic Exchange Service also participated.
Edukasyon.ph founder and CEO Henry Motte-Muñoz urged students and professionals to take advantage of the fair to understand the available opportunities for them.
“When people think of studying abroad, they think that you have to be a genius, you have to be extremely wealthy, and they only think of the big schools—Harvard, Yale, Stanford, etcetera,” he said.
“What we want is for people to realize that studying abroad is more accessible than they perceive it to be. For example, there are many high-quality universities all over the world, not only Ivy League schools, that aren’t as expensive and can still largely contribute to their personal and professional growth,” he said.
The two-day event highlighted career talks by speakers who discussed their experiences while studying overseas. There were David & Golyat Cofounder Miko David and Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) National team head Jake Letts, Rappler journalist Natashya Gutierrez, Cluster.ph Editor in Chief Jenny Rocket and Endeavor Philippines senior associate Evan Chen.
Also present were school and alumni representatives from Harvard Business School, ESSEC Asia-Pacific, INSEAD, Stanford University and Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
“As always, we encourage everyone to go through our online platform, www.edukasyon.ph, to get more information on studying abroad and apply to their dream school. Our fair is just a mini-version of all that is available on our web site,” the official said.
“We seek to make education reachable to every Filipino child regardless of their social status. Edukasyon.ph empowers students by giving them all the important education to career information that they need,” he said.
