THE Cultural Section of Iran’s Embassy in Manila, together with the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines, Episcopal Commission on Interreligious Dialogue, Center for Interreligious Dialogue and Civilization, and the University of Santa Tomas, Institute of Religion, has organized an interfaith conference on April 29 and 30 at the University of Santo Tomas.
The conference, titled “The Approach of Islam and Christianity Toward Religious Extremism and Violence,” will discuss the current concerns of Islam and Christianity on religious extremisms and violence, which contribute to the marginalization of world’s Christians and Muslims.
Among the topics to be discussed are ”Causes and Complications of Extremism and Violence”; ”The Impact of Religious Dialogue in Promoting Peace and Friendship”; “The Role of Religious Leaders in Preventing Religious Extremism and Violence”; “The Role of Media in the Expansion of Moderate Thoughts and Friendship Between Peoples”; “The Role of Religious Leaders in Reducing Religious Extremism and Violence”; Religious Dialogue and Coexistence and Convergence”; “Christianity’s Role in Peace and Convergence”; “Islam’s Role in Peace and Convergence”; “The Role of Religious Organizations in the Promotion of Mutual Understanding and Friendship Among Countries and Nations”; “The Role of Religious Organizations in The Promotion Of Mutual Understanding and Harmony: The Case of “Amman Message;” The Role of Media in Expansion of Moderate Thoughts and Friendship Between People”; and “Engaging Moral Imagination in Responding to the Challenge of Religious Extremism and Violence.”
