Branding in crowded global marketplaces

MARKETING today should not be conceived as a series of online campaigns; it should be an evolving capacity enabled by social networks that are characterized by user-created content, contextualized search and retrieval, and personal interaction. To stay relevant, marketers and marketing departments need to evolve into catalyzers, rather than controllers, facilitators rather than directors, and synthesizers rather than copywriters.

Looking at PR from a global perspective

STARTING this week, the Philippine Chapter of the International Public Relations Association (Ipra) will be coming up with this column titled “PR Matters,” to be written alternately by its members.  As the title of the column implies, the subjects tackled will be important and relevant trends and issues in public relations (PR). But it also conveys that PR today has become such an important factor for success, not just in business but practically all fields of endeavor.
