The Insurance Commission (IC) on Friday announced it was awarded the ISO 9001:2008 certification for its continued pursuit for excellent and quality service.
“It is with excitement that I officially share this great news today. The Insurance Commission is now ISO 9001:2008-certified,” Insurance Commissioner Emmanuel F. Dooc said.
The Anglo Japanese American (AJA) Registrar, after a thorough assessment of the IC’s Quality Management System, had conferred the ISO 9001:2008 certification to the institution in a letter dated May 4.
In the same letter, AJA Registrar encouraged the IC to continue with the improvement of its management systems as a tool to consistently attain customer satisfaction and achieve performance objectives.
“The certification is proof of the IC’s strong commitment to quality regulatory services, which is at par with international standards. The mission to protect the insuring public and to develop and strengthen the insurance industry has continuously been discharged with efficiency and competence,” Dooc said.
He also noted that the certification is a milestone that will serve as a testament to the IC’s steadfast commitment in providing quality regulatory services that exceed the expectations of customers and stakeholders.
“We would not have achieved this milestone if not for the efforts and hard work of IC employees and officials,” Dooc said.
The IC’s QMS covers all provisions of insurance and preneed regulatory services in the Philippines, which involve licensing, monitoring, approval, examination and legal proceedings.
The attainment of the coveted recognition is testament that the institution ensures that its management systems and processes are of international standards and best practices.
“This means that we have recalibrated our processes, reengineered our procedures and restructured our systems to improve the way we do things so we can be of great help to the insuring public and preneed customers,” Dooc said.
