POWERADE hopes to rebound from a heartbreaking defeat as it battles B-Meg on Wednesday in the 2011 Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The Tigers battle the Llamados at 5:15 p.m. looking to grab that third win that could somehow ease the pain from their traumatic 72-73 loss at the hands of Barangay Ginebra on Saturday in Victorias City in Negros Occidental.
“Last game’s painful loss was a hard pill to swallow,” said Powerade head coach Bo Perasol, whose wards could have taken joint second place if they sank their free throws in the dying seconds.
“However, we do understand that in order for us to grow, we need to go through those kinds of adversity. Our resolve to be better still remains the same,” he added.
Top pick JV Casio played 11 minutes in his debut and scored three points, a three-pointer at the top of the key which was his first attempt as a pro.
Perasol said they need to regroup against a tough B-Meg team, which is still trying to adjust with new head coach Tim Cone.
The Llamados are currently in eighth spot with a 1-3 mark and are also coming off a tough 94-96 loss to defending champion Talk ’N Text on Friday at the Astrodome.
In the other game, the Kings try to follow up their come-from-behind win against the Tigers as they take on winless Shopinas.com at 7:30 p.m.
Ginebra, with Mark Caguioa hitting the big basket, managed to steal the game from Powerade to get back to its winning ways and improve to 2-2.
The Shopinas five of coach Franz Pumaren has yet to win in its maiden season in the PBA and is coming off a bruising 78-96 loss to sister team Barako Bull.
Lucky for the Clickers, veteran center Homer Se was not suspended for trying to pick a fight with Energy head coach Junel Baculi.
Se was slapped a measly fine of P2,600 while Barako Bull center Dorian, who was also thrown out in that game for giving a hard tackle on Se, was fined a heftier sum of P11,000.
