THERE is still no scheduled increase in the cost of construction materials for the summer months, the Department of Trade and Industry reported.
Trade Undersecretary Zenaida Maglaya said she just met with the manufacturers of construction materials, and none of them gave indications that they will increase prices at least in the next two weeks.
“We asked them to inform us at least two weeks in advance [if they are increasing prices] and so far, none of them indicated they will have an increase,” Maglaya said.
She called the industry to a meeting to ensure the supply and price situation for construction materials in time for the summer months, historically the peak of construction activities in the country.
Also, Maglaya met with the industry players to remind them to ensure compliance with the different Philippine National Standards that are in place, as well as to follow the proper sizes, gauges and strengths of the construction materials.
